Flying home from Creve Coeur, I flew over Rapid City airspace at 8500 , and watched through the back side window as an RJ taxied out and took off. He caught up to me in ntime, flew right underneath me at about 6500 ft. I'm sure departure new I was there and his on board TCAS.
FANs 2 like ADS-B are for big machines at busy big airports and airspace which want nothing to do with us. But if Big biz really really wants it then maybe they should pay to put it in my plane
We routinely fly our T-38A's all around the country with a Tacan, IlS, and single UHF radio. Makes things interesting out there. We're still are not even legally allowed to carry a tablet for our pubs. You civilians get the fancy stuff!
