South FL has its perks for sure!! Summers are really hot in the middle of the state but with a ocean breeze Stuart isn't bad at all. In fact the Atlanta summers were way hotter than Stuart. Hope it warms up for you soon.

You realize, of course..... that Fishdoc's airplane .... ain't original, right?Pdogace wrote:Fishdoc, that is one BEAST of a 170B. I think that your bird looks great. I love that 3 bladed prop. One day I might swap my o 300 out for move power and better cruise performance. My B already has the 175 wings so l already have half the hardware to take advantage of more power. Anyway great plane.

Gahorn, I do realize it's not "oringinal" but as I said my 54 is not "original" due to the 175 wings and other mods that had already been done to her when I bought her. With that said, Fishdoc's plane is still beautiful. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so to speak. I doubt I will ever fork over the money to upgrade mine to more power but it's fun to dream. I love seeing what others have done with our great little planes. Not sure what will happen as my boys get older but regardless what's under the hood all 170s are sexy and, as we are all well aware, they get a lot of attention every time we take them out. With the part 23 reform I suspect that a lot more 170's will not be "original" in the future, which is not a bad thing. I respect you and all the others that strive to keep their planes original and would hope you too respect others that try to make their 170 a part of the their family. At the end of the day we all have the sexy 1950's lines and attention grabbing round tail.
P.s. I am not sure if this the right place for this post.
P.p.s. If your ever on the east coast of South FL look me up, it would be good to see you again. We met at the Gulf Shore convention a couple years ago but we had two really small boys so we did not get to hang out much.

I certainly never thought anyone would have taken that tongue-in-cheek post seriously... it's why I included the gif file, to assure everyone it's was a joke. As Bruce pointed out at Deming...there's so many surprising things not original in my own "original" airplane....Pdogace wrote:Gahorn, I do realize it's not "oringinal" but as I said my 54 is not "original" due to the 175 wings and other mods that had already been done to her when I bought her. (But just to jab back at ya'... that IS a FINE photograph of a beautiful family. You should turn your tailpipes back around to the "proper" direction.

I was just poking back at you!!
Hence my smiley faces. I did not even know my tail pipes are on wrong. That's why I like this forum so much. I learn something new about these planes every time I log in. I have my annual coming up so I will see about correcting that along with all the other surprises waiting for me.

Here is my 1961 172B. I know it's not a 170 but it's still a great airplane.

It’s about time to post a couple of shots of the fine 170B I purchased at the end of August. Of course one of these shots will go on the Christmas card this year....

My recently purchased '51 A model. I'm a freshly minted pilot who did all of my learning in a piper nose dragger...Doing my best to make the transition. What a wealth of information there is to be found here at the association, truly a great gathering of people.

I liked this shot taken while departing a friends strip last night. Says a lot - a nice night, a friendly departure wave, ‘ol glory proudly displayed. It just made me feel good inside and very blessed.

My daughter polishing up our newest family member. 170A, 1745D. She’s got some history with some association members and I’ve already gotten to speak with one who now flys at my airline. Looking forward to some great times and digging up some history. There’s mention in the logs of law enforcement patrol flights which seem very interesting!
“Hey kiddo you like our new family plane?”
“Daddy, when we are done another family is going to use it”
“No Boogs, this one is ours. It lives here waiting just for us to come fly her!”
“Whaaaaaaaaaaa?!?!!”
