When I installed the Cont. IO-360 engine in my '52 model I used a baffling system almost identical with the later style C-170 as used from '53 on. It seems to work fine as long as the rubber seals are pointed in the right direction. I bent the edges of the metal on the baffles to hold the rubber so that it was compressed in the proper direction as the cowling was closed on it.
