Another hangar rent increase
I envy you guys out in the wide open spaces. Just received notice of 2nd increase in one year. Seems out of line considering steep drop in real estate values in this area [northern virginia].
Ill be looking to leave Warrenton-Fauquier [W66]. Anybody know of hangars at Culpeper, Hartwood, etc?
Aircraft ownership here is an irrational act

Hangar rents don't always make sense - the rent has a lot to do with how much of an advocate the Airport Manager is. The hangar rents in California can get insane. I am in Northern California at a local airport in a suburban area that is growing significantly. My hangar rent is currently $271 - went up 5% this year and I anticipate it will increase by at least 5% each year here-after. In Salinas, depending on what side of the airport you are on, you may pay only $170. In Southern California the average is between $500 and $1000 per month-if you can find a hangar. Rents make the Airpark look very appealing.

i am the treasurer of our airport here at GCT.
old hangar rent is $70
and new T-hangar is $80
and, of course, all the pilots complain!!
it is a different story at the des moines airport!!
for a space w/only a roof over your plane
is over 200/mo!!!
i figure 1k for hangar rent, annual, and insurance/year.
not to bad!!

We were able to buy one of the portable sheet metal hangers you can tow behind your pickup, if you can figure how to put 15 foot wide mirrors on it.
Cost us $1500 plus moving it 150 miles. So now we walk across the drive way, open the doors pull her out, turn 90 degrees and taxi away. Don't think we could handle paying hanger rent so works great.

Now GAR.. I know you wouldn't streetch the trooth or phabricate anything now, but.... I know for a FACT that your runway has plenty of lights on it! I"ve landed there! ON XMAS EVE! And there was PLENTY of flashin' red lights on that runway!flyguy wrote:... SMALL CONS AT THIS AIRPORT: NO RUNNY WAY LITES FER NITE. NO FUEL CEPT THE LOCAL GAS STATION...

Going rate on the Cape Cod is $500.00 a month. Only chance we have is getting lucky like I have in the past. We have allot of snowbirds that go south during the winter. Once they vacate the hanger for the winter, 2-300.00 dollars can get you in till April .....
Still way to expensive. But then again, a 3/4 acre piece of land in Truro starts at 320K (thats without a single nail or piece of wood).
The falmouth airpark on the s/w side of the cape has units starting at 950K for anyone interested
Happy Thansgiving to all

5 years ago my rent was $325. Every year it went up a little until 2 years ago . It went from $370 to $470. I tried to find someting else but there are no airports closer with a hangar. I'M still waiting for the next increase. Hopefully in the next couple of years I'll be able to proudly say I'M FROM, far from NJ. Of course I'll be glad to pay the exit tax to leave!

Hangar Rent
Here in the Fort Worth/Dallas area the hangar rental rates are all over the place. I am currently hangared @ Grand Prairie (GPM) & my enclosed/sliding doors T hangar is $185/mo. New ones here are $250 w/ bi-fold doors. Spinks (FTW) 3 miles from home are $250 w/ sliding doors. Other city owned airports, of which there are many, get vrs amounts more, some a lot more. Out in one West TX city I was told one like I have is about $50 per month. It all boils down to location, location, location. As was mentioned above, sure makes a residential airpark look appealing if one can afford it and if one can find a buyer when the need to sell comes. I suppose flying has always been expensive, but it is easy to understand why so many just give it up.
