Color of wing # on ragwings.
I finally got a conclusive answer to my question of a few years back wanting to know if Cessna painted the wing # Black or if they matched the trim color. The 140 site posted the email address of 99 year old Cessna test pilot Mort Brown. He was able to confirm that the color was indeed black. His email is lflipanz2004@aol.com The 140 folks say he is still quite active and very much interested in old Cessnas so if you have any questions for an old Cessna company man you might give him a try while you still can. If you attended the Galveston Convention in June, 2007, your welcome package included a complimentary CD of Mort's pics and logbook entries for the years of his test flying at Cessna. He and Mrs. Brown are great supporters of TIC170A.

Mort and Sharon Brown are indeed fine folks. They were just at the annual C-195 Fly-in at Wichita. Mort and Sharon spent several afternoons and evenings visiting with everyone and answering as many questions as they could. Sharon then found original entries in Mort's personal logbook for each plane he test flew and sent scans to interested folks.
Mort was the original production test pilot on my 170 and 195 both! Cessna only let them initial the log books and only let them put the year of the test flight so if the plane sat awhile before it was sold it would still be "new".
I had my original 195 log book and flight test report with me so Mort autographed and dated his initial entry. What an honor to meet and visit with him!
