Hey Willie
I'll swap white stuff with you. I had a better picture of the smoke but used this one to make Bruce happy.

Did your spring cleanup fire get out of control Paul?

Not mine... about 10 miles west of me in the next county. I got to bed about 4 this morning and I'm hoping they don't call us out for day three. Total damage about two thousand acres, one old barn, several fences and a bunch of tired volunteer firemen.

WHo ever stated "There is nothing worse than a Women's Scorn"............never had to fight a wild fire.

I hear parts of Texas are very dry, I hope you get rain soon. One nice thing about winter hanging on here, is usually when spring comes, it's just here and things turn green. Sure keeps the fire window much shorter.

Good Luck and Stay Safe.

hey W.J. that isn't very much snow, and it is only April yet so winter isn't over for another month anyway

on the bright side, we haven't had to sandbag the hangars so far. but the West Fargo and Moorhead airports were both underwater

On 11 JUN 08 we had five inches of snow in Yellowpine, ID. If I remember correctly, summer was on a Wednesday.

On my one and only (so far  ) trip to Johnson Creek on Labor Day weekend in '03 (that's 2003, not 1903, Dick  ) it was 32F at dawn both days, and didn't get past the 60's during the day. During the Kalispell, MT 170 convention the second week of July in 1995, we went to Glacier National Park. Logan's Pass had only been open about a week, and there was still about 6 inches of snow on the ground.

As late as 9 days ago, there was still snow above about 7000 feet in the Tehachapi Mts. I understand that we have a storm coming about Wednesday, and the snow level may drop to 4500 ft. I live at and fly from 4000, so we should get the pretty-to-look-at snow, but shouldn't have to actually deal with it.

Miles,
Why don't you plan on trying to swing by Johnson Creek on one of your trips this summer, maybe to of from Duluth. I'll spring for the Beer and Burgers for you and that charming lady you've been living with. It may be even better than the last time we got together in Woodlake from the NorthSouth fly- in in Visilia. That was a long time ago. I surely would enjoy getting together with you again and meeting the patient lady that puts up with you.
I'll most likely be at my summer estate (my travel tailer) in Yellowpine from early may on through the summer. My telephone there is 208-633-5566 and Paul and Beverly Sunderlin, caretakers at Johnson Creek Airport and Campground, will know where I am.

Dick,

The Monterey Bay QB hangar is throwing a wingding at Johnson Creek July 10-12 (two weeks post 170 convention) that I plan on attending. The only problem with that plan is that Karen won't be able to come along. I know it's been a while but you did meet her when we were at Johnson Creek 5+ years ago. As our plans stand now, we're leaving for Duluth a week before the convention, stopping in Idaho Falls the first night out, then hit Yellowstone for a day or two before pressing on. I'll ask Karen if she'd rather stop by Johnson Creek. The only stop on the way to Duluth that's not negotiable with her is Rapid City, as she's never seen Mt. Rushmore. I'll let you know as the time gets closer.
