Blakesburg Antique Fly-in

Post by 3958v »

I just returned fom the Antique Airplane Fly-in at Blakesburg Iowa. Just wanted let the people on the forum know that it is a great fly-in for antique aircraft buffs. The fly-in is nothing like OSH. Much cheaper to attend and you will see aircraft that never go to OSH. Very few vendors just classic aircraft and their pilots no general public. If you take a nose dragger expect to be hidden out back The fly-in is held on a grass field in southeastern Iowa every Labor day weekend. You can also hit the largest old agricultural equipment show about 50 miles east of Blakesburg in Mt Pleasant where the airport provides free transportation to and from the show for pilots. Not trying to do an advertisement but letting you know its a great destination you might want to check out next year. Bill K

Good friend of mine Stan Sweikar attends every year in his 195. Next year he will have his 1929 Fleet finished. Beautiful craftsmanship.
