YUP, they are the original "Founders". And, if you see an "H" after their membership # and year joining that means they are willing to host a fellow member overnight who is passing through their area.

Didn't see any ages posted, but I doubt any one is older, and flown 170's longer and still flying his own Cessna 170B. That would be Oren Hudson at 94, living in Anchorage, AK. He started flying 170's in the early 50's. He also has over 11,000 hours in is Widgeon. Recently he was one of 13 that were honored by the Alaska Air Carriers Association as Alaskan Aviation Legends.
I talked to Oren in June at the Marion Lake Grumman fly-in just south of Big Lake, Alaska. He is still doing very well and in fact, BluEldr will appreciate this, he rode his Vespa scooter 75 miles from Anchorage and back. He rode the scooter instead of flying his 170 because the strip at Marion Lake is only 600' long.
There were 3 Widgeons and one Goose at the fly-in. They all flew in about the same time and landed in the lake. You don't see that every day.

It appears to me that this fellow Oren Hudson in Alaska is a very discerning type of guy. Richard Pulley reports that he, like me, also rides a Vespa motor scooter. He obviously appreciates quality.

With a short field landing distance, Longer than 800 FT. I see why Oren, couldn't take off

You and Oren would definitely get along, he has a great attitude and sense of humor similar to you. I may have mispoken though, I can't be absolutely certain his scooter is actually a Vespa. I used the name Vespa as a general term similar to the way we use Coke as in "what kind of Coke do you want?". In any case, both of you guys are a real inspiration. Keep up the good work!
