iPad/iPhone IOS7 instability

Post by bagarre »

I'm SURE that no one would EVER use an iPad or iPhone as their primary or sole navigation / Electronic Flight Bag but this is still worth reading.

I have had a number of crashes with a variety of applications. The solution when running SkyCharts Pro seems to be shutting down every app but SkyCharts while flying to reduce the chance of crashing the iPad. I never had a problem with iOS 6.

Every upgrade is a downgrade.

Glad I use Foreflight...not a single hiccup with that app. Other non-aviation apps, not so much.

I haven't had a problem with Sky Charts Pro yet at all. The problem I have had is with iOS 7 crashing with other apps.

It happens repeatedly now so as a precaution, I shut down everything but SkyCharts when flying until the iOS stability problem is sorted out.

The problem isn't with any particular application. The problem is IOS7.

It's just something to be aware of, since no one is using an IOS device for primary navigation anyway.
