One can always develop one's own airport.

I wonder if it would be reasonable to expect the local gov't to lease to us a large storeroom in a public building or developed business-park for 20 years....and what a reasonable price (never to be increased) for that room might be...

(arms-length viewpoint offering)

(In the children's video "The Jungle Book", one of the characters is "Baloo", a ("Blue") bear, voiced by Phil Harris. He encounters an orangutan "King Louie" voiced by Louis Prima in a style reminiscient of Scat-man Carothers, and they entertain the young boy "Mowgli" with a song about the animals acquiring the secret of fire, "I Wanna Be Like You". It's a happy song which immediately popped into my mind when I read your post, bluElder. LOL)

That's exactly what I will be doing, sort of. I own some property just west of town on a very nice airport subdivision and I will be building my hangar there instead of investing money on the public airport, those guys are doing me a big favor, got me off dead center on my project.

My current yearly rent at the public airport will pay for all property taxes and association dues at the new place.

I have heard from my law firm about resisting incredible increase in lease. T hey poured over the wording of the proposed lease. No relief. Sign the lease or leave.

They are not familiar w FAA compliance issues.

I have no place to go. I don t want to think of arbitrarily being locked out of my hanger or city placing lien on stored aircraft , auctioning to highest bidder. The current lease has those terms in it. Ends Dec 31,2012

I have just heard that one pilot has employed an attorney who is eagar to take on the city. This pilot is still miffed about a letter he received sev years ago advising him to immediately vacate the premises. His manufacturing firms contributes to the county and state. With its PAyroll of about 150 pluse employees. He loves aviation .

I still don't have a stragecy.
