What I see is the tail number has been changed from N6D to N170BM.

I have fond memories flying in this plane back in the mid 80's and early 90's, the Baja trips were epic!

I believe you are correct, as I recall the STOL kit is from Robertson.
I was visiting Bob at EMT when he was installing the kit, '86 if my memory serves me.

Wheeler3, do you have any advice or information pertaining to this plane? I think ole pokey brought up something about not doing a slip with full 40 degree flaps with this type of tail, did Bob ever mention anything about this to you? I really would have liked to meet Bob and listen to his experiences with this plane. Anything you could share with me would be greatly appreciated Thank you F. Cahoon

I'm sorry that I am unable to answer your question. I haven't spoken with Bob in about 4 years and have lost his phone numbers. I tried sending an email last night, I have not heard back.

You can try calling FBO's located at El Monte airport, someone will have info. on Bob. You can also search the net. They might still be living in Arcadia, San Gabriel or might have moved to his residence in Crestline Ca.

I wish I could be of more help, I'll let you know if I get in contact with him.

The type tail is not the problem... it's the 40 degrees of flaps....which none of the tails could handle. Later 172 aircraft had reduced flap deployment angles.
