Yep John, mine looks exactly like yours including the clasp, fuse holder and placard. Looks like it would be a lot easier to re-produce.

Here is the full door and hinges. I'll have measurements and probably a 3D model later this week. Our incoming inspection team has a brand new laser scanner for inspecting parts and they are itching to put to use.

The new design really gets your attention when it falls into your lap. Now if only it would go buzz-buzz. The light goes on so I know the switch and wiring are good. Hopefully I can adjust the striker thing and be done with it.

Christine, did we talk about the horn before? I know I have but don't remember if you were part of that. Here is a link to how a Lionel train repairman would go about it that I posted some time back. I've never meet a Lionel horn I couldn't make work.

I repaired a horn/buzzer in a C175 once by replacing the capacitor/condenser with one in my junk electronics box. The points inside the buzzer require an electrical "shock-absorber" to activate the "buzz".

Christine... did I not make it clear to you earlier in the thread I have a solution for your buzzer if it's bad?

Are the dimensions for the glovebox the same for a 53 or later? If not, does anyone have those? I do have the same door as the other posted pictures for 53 but no box. Thanks.

Different PNs if that means anything. I don’t know the actual measurements of/if any differences.

The 172A (SNs 28000- 36965, which were the 1956 thru the early 1960 models) shared the same PN 0513036-3 as the ‘56 170B, but the 172B (mid 1960) and on had a completely different PN..

Hmm, same door as pictured, which is a '52 or earlier door. Are you sure you have a '53?
You see how the door is basically flat beside the half moon inset for the knob.
You can see how the bottom of the door wraps around to the mount at the panel

The doors are different. I'd be surprised to find the box is the same from 52 to 53.

Bruce, Sorry for the confusion. I have the door similar to the picture johneeb posted from his 53. Yes mine is 53 170b and does match the diagram you just shared for 53 and later. Thanks.

Also the box for the 53 appears to be about 8” wide and 4+” tall based on the hole in the panel where it used to be. I don’t have my parts manual handy but perhaps there is a diagram there? My bad for not being able to look there. Thanks George for the part # clarification. With that it appears availability may be rather limited. I have sent a PM to Johneeb after looking at his photo again. Perhaps he can provide measurement insight.

I just built a box for my 1956 B. The door was there, but had been screwed shut and the Vaccuum regulator and stall horn had been mounted directly behind the door. The width and height are defined by the opening. I built it as deep as I could, with the stall horn mounted on the back and the regulator mounted on the top.I added a brace that comes off one of the windshield screws down to the top of the box. Not sure it is really needed, especially if you made the box less deep, but I felt with the weight of the regulator and stall horn it was a good idea.

I will get some accurate measurements and photos in a day or so.
