Sorry Ron didn't intend to do that. Believe me Ron there are millions out there like you. That's why AOL is still in business I guess.
Don't get me wrong for a lot of people they offer a turnkey experience. For a traveler who needs to connect and will put up with dial up they offer a great service.
For most that have moved past dial-up like DSL, Cable or T1 and don't need to communicate where there is only a telephone there is little use for them and like you have found out they can get in the way.
You had DSL which is pretty fast but not as fast as T1. More than likely you are only going to use a fraction of the T1 capability. Full T1 is fast.
In any case we are glad to have you here at the forum. I've been wondering why few of the long time TIC170A members have made their way here. It is good to hear from you and Miles and though generally convention related from Marcia as well. It would be great to hear from a few board members. I'm sure they are lurking.
BTW if you have any more computer questions you'd like to ask but not in public just send me a private message with the PM button at the bottom of my posts.
I'm sure with the T1 you'll want to be uploading and downloading all sorts of info and may need help. Just ask.

hey Bruce, just kidding about making me feel dumb however I do need some help. I liked DOS and I understood it-- just getting back into computers. I helped set up the database for the assn with Velvet using PC-FILE plus which is DOS driven and liked it very as well as Velvet loves it. Windows--I'm geting use to but need some help. I still have dial up at the house so I will need to keep AOL for some period (WE HAVE ONLY 1 provider for phone service so that's that.) Thanks, we'll get together at Dearborn. Ron
