Private Pilot with ASEL in June of 1978. Added Instrument rating in June of 1990. I did that while '98C was down for engine overhaul so I could stay current. I've only used the instrument rating a few times to penetrate overcasts, but have never shot an approach "in anger".

I've had instruction toward both Commercial license and Multi-engine ratings, but for one reason or another didn't finish either. I've thought about a CFI just for doing tailwheel endorsements, but never followed through on that either. I agree with Robert that the best way to learn something is to teach it, but I'm pretty sure I don't have the fortitude or patience to do primary instruction.

In my family I guess the women rule. My son, PSEL. Myself PSEL&S Inst. Mywife Com M SL&S Inst. My daughter-inlaw ATP CFI inst. Wife and Daughter-in-law make the money leaving the boys to fly for fun. You should hear the CONVERSATION when the boys are in the front and the ladies in the rear.

Miles,
I think you would make a very good instructor! And I have found that primary instruction to be the most fun!!
