Back to the original question about who repairs landing gear,
Jim Hayton, North Sound Aviation
30578 Walberg Rd.
Seedro Wooley, WA 98284
360-661-3302
Jim repairs, straightens, NDT inspects, shot peens, heat treats, primes, paints, yellow tags and returns Cessna spring gear to the original Cessna specs.
He has repaired thousands of gear legs over the past 30+ years. Probably has more experience doing it than anyone else. It can take awhile to get them back but they will be done right. Call Jim for a current quote on price and delivery.

Thanks for the help, that was just the info I was looking for. I didn't have any luck finding anyone up here that does that. So I was starting to lean towards the 180 gear upgrade. I will call this fella tomorrow. Thanks a lot for the help.

Barney,
I sent a set of 180 gear legs to Jim Hayton in Feb. of this year. Haven't heard a word back from him since. I've left messages with no response. Might want to talk to him first. He signed for them from UPS.. Good luck.

Gary-
That's the biggest problem with Jim Hayton, it takes him forever to get the gear back but I don't know anyone else that does the whole thing correctly. I sent him a set of 195 gear legs and it took 3 months but they were perfect when I finally got them. I guess he has a huge backlog of work and apparently works first-in, first-out.
Barney-
You will be REAL happy with the 180 gear.

Upgrade!
UPgrade??
Depends on what you're gonna do with it I guess. .... I don't consider it an "upgrade" at all. It's ugly. Sorta like seein' Morgan Fairchild in a cute skirt...with Ol' Gar's hairy legs protrudin' from underneath!

The discussion about gear legs caused me to look at mine a little closer. I discovered that the gear on my plan have brake clip indentations on either side - allowing, apprently, for the gear to be used right or left.

The early gear legs are interchangeable left and right. The later "lady legs" are not.
(But both types require that the axle be mounted on the lower end, which must be pointed at the ground.) The brake clip grabs the gear leg on both top and bottom.

Gary, have you been able to get a hold of Jim Hayton? I called last week several times and was unable to reach him. I never even got to a voice mail or anything. nick cushman
