We've made our reservations at the lodge for Friday and Saturday nights. If a deep fryer would be available, we'd like to bring the equipment and makins for homemade curly potato chips. Looking forward to seeing everybody at our "second" Petit Jean fly-in!

All of this food talk has me wondering what I need to bring? I am planning on being self sufficient for the week end or is it more like a covered dish kinda weekend? If so what is needed?

Just come to Petit Jean! We eat all the time, so don't worry about food! The lodge has a restaurant but for some reason we always hang around the campground and stuff ourselves there. We've had Crawdad's, Tamales, and Elk Ramyaki, the grill is always on with burgers or chicken. Don't need to bring anything, but folks do bring some of their specialties, like Cherry Pie.

I'll be putting the food committee chairwomen on these developments when she gets up tomorrow.

For first timers, this isn't really a rough campground. It has a nice his / her's shower house / bathroom. We plug the coffee pot and a refrigerator (got a new one) in. In fact each tent site has electricity and water.

The host say's we have a deep fryer for the homemade curly pototoe chips.

And the ladle, bowls, spoons, gas burners, and 1 huge boiler, for the Chowder. No need to haul those all the way from MA! I'd bet we can come up with the Oyster & Saltine Crackers as well. We make a food run down to Little Rock Sam's just before the fly-in.

The lodge room reservations must be switched from Cessna 170 to individual names before March 25th. They can be cancelled, for a full refund, up to 5 days before April 25th. As usual we'll be watching the weather closely to make that call.

20 degrees in morning here and high today of 40 so I am ready for a little sun burn, higher temperatures, green surroundings, and great 170 fellowship.

I'm not finding the Petit Jean Fly-In Announcement!

Unfortunately you are looking at the April news letter that does NOT contain any mention of this years Petit Jean fly-in.

Maybe an email to the electronic fly paper recipients would help.

I'm home a week early this year, so Mr & Mrs Gar won't have to help us rush up there. Gar, a big ole southern fish fry sure sounds good. Reckon how many Crappie we'd need? Would northern folks like our Crappie, Cat Fish, n Hush Puppies? Might run that by Traci!

Yeah a fish fry sounds wonderful. I can bring these Louisiana fresh frozen fillets, 15# in a box. That is probably about 30-35 "big" fillets. How many boxes we gonna need? The spiced coating we use is also great. It takes about 2-3# per box of fillets.

About the non-info for Peti - Jean, Probably won't be able to do anything else but phone or snail mail former attendees who might not have gotten the date for this year. If you have a list of phone # and want me to do the calls let me know.

Ditto for me Dave! Let me know if I can help calling past attendees. Be glad to do that. Just shoot me an e-mail with a list of names, or scan your book that people sign and we'll get at it!

Count me in - let me know if there is anything I can do to help notify people. I think Kyle has a good idea to at least contact anyone who has attended in the past and I would ask the person who does the Fly Paper to send an email to anyone who gets the Fly Paper electronically.

We fish for crappie up here, and Mississippi river catfish is a personal favorite! I'll have to figure out what Minnesota delicacy we can bring down there. Walleye is the no-brainer, but I'm not sure if it really comes from here when you buy it in the store.

John, has the Minnesota delegation worked out their travel iternery for Petit Jean? Are you planning lunch stop at Gaston's?

I think we may have three planes coming down: Dennis Hoffman, Brit Etzold, and myself. I think we're leaning toward leaving Friday morning, and try to make it to Petit Jean in one day. That would preclude lunch at Gaston's, of course. Did you want to meet up with us somewhere? We're all flying C-145 putt-putts, so you could fly circles around us while we muddle along!

John, I can see how coming all the way from Minnesota in one day would have you passing Gaston's to late for lunch. I hoped to leave Friday morning and stop at Gaston's however if you plan another lunch stop that could work out, let me know when your plans frim up.
