Personally, I liked the GLS event. However, such a 'complex' mission might have been softened by the preflight briefing occuring the night before, instead of the morning of, giving everybody a chance to chew on the assignments. Also, an official 'post-briefing gathering' explaining the answers and allowing for the usual banter would have definitely added to the fun and learning.
Poker runs are cool in that they allow us to fly our planes in a group function during the convention. For instance, the Kelowna run was scenic and enjoyable.
I've only been to the last two conventions (hopefully many more to come) and am sort of surprised by the lack of hands-on C-170 ownership involved events (no slight intended to the hosts). And I'm not volunteering to do better by saying this, if you know what I mean!
All in all George, you did a great job with your convention and I enjoyed the stress of the nav/bomb run exercise.
