One of the Association's past presidents' registration was C-GRLI. I'm not sure I could let that one stand.

John, thanks for finding that picture. Seems the owner repainted the letters in RED since I remember seeing them in black.
George I'd switched gears to Cubs and when your looking at a field full of them a 170, even yours, does not stand out.
Anyway it was a one day whirl wind tour by car from Tehachapi to Lompac where we stayed about 2 hours then a drive down the cost to Burbank to our hotel. We had lots to see and very little time. We had an early morning flight home the next day. You may not even have been at Lompac during the time Teresa and I were there.
CAUTION - My forum posts may be worth what you paid for them!

Bruce,
After reading about your trip to Lompoc, I'm curious about what happened to the Cub with the N5EX registration. I have a friend up at the airport with a "Glasstar" with that registration. The "5" is so stylized it looks like an "S'.
Now I realy am confused. I just checked the FAA data base and that N5EX is still listed to that Cub. My buddy has had it on his Glasstar for over a year since it was painted.
Oops! Correction! I just found that Kens registration is N15EX. My goof. Sorry about that!
Jack Roush bought a number from a local pilot for a college and flight school instruction for his son. Jack wanted the number due to JR in the #.

Actually, the letter "O" (as well as "I") cant appear anywhere in an US aircraft registration mark. A good thing I guess... that's not something one would want to advertise.

PS: I wonder if the pilot of Cessna Citation N38DD is female?

There's a Navion at a nearby airport for sale that has N14SX (His wife says it stands for No One For Sex.)
There's a 182 in AUS with N69BJ.
I wonder who has Number One For Sex, YES!

Bill, the owner of that Navion was also the manager of the Lampassas, TX airport until his death a couple years ago. He was also active in the Navion club and was held to be somewhat of an "expert" on Navions. We visited a few times over the years when I'd stop in for cheap gas there (LZZ). I understand his wife wants to sell it. It's still sitting just like pictured, for the last 2 or 3 years.

Back when I was learning to fly, when I got ready to do some radio work and fly into controlled apts (the 2 C-140's didn't have working radios) the C-150 we used had N150RA as its registration #. I thought that kind of keen at the time. Not as unique as the ones mentioned above, but some controllers would sometimes ask a second time for the number. The ones around Fort Worth didn't because the plane was used for so much training they were used to its N#.
I have one friend who when we were young fancied himself a Hydroplane Boat Racer. He, much to the chagrin of the public address announcers around the Boat racing circuit, named his boat Hove Hearted.

The best boat-names I've ever noticed were a 25' Catalina on Lake Travis, which had a young man at the helm and a deck full of Univ. of TX lasses wearing nothing but flip-flops, ....The boat's stern said "Sinbad the Sailor" .....and then there is also a 31' Pearson, "Pilot Error".
