In a related story of humor...
... when Jamie and I married I was filing important papers away in the safe. I came across her college transcripts, so I took a look.
Jamie went to college after she alrready had the responsibilities of a single-mother, getting kids up and off to school, then driving 100 miles to campus, attending college, driving back home in time to pick up kids, cook supper, get kids homework done, put them to bed, clean house/wash clothes...THEN do her own studies so she could do it all over-again next day, day after day, for over 4 years. Oh...did I fail to mention she also worked as a dental hygenist and substitute teacher to pay for all this? (Anyone who knows Jamie knows how diligent/dedicated she is in all things.)
Jamie had to work hard for her grades. So it was with interest that I looked over her transcript.... six pages of tiny computer-printout of a genuine, accredited 4-year college taking all the hard courses...no basket weaving. Boring boring pages of A,A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A ad nauseum until I finally came across her LOWEST grades... TWO "B's"... one in Calculus and one in Physics.
She had graduated on the Dean's list, Sum Laude.

After I put her transcript into the safe I returned to the kitchen and announced to her:
"Hey, Sweetheart! Besides all our common family-history... there's another thing you and I have in common!", I said.
"On our entire, college transcripts.... we both have only TWO "B's" !!

Of course, they are among my HIGHEST grades.

Her parents and step-parents did our part, she did hers (apparently for less than $3/hour  ). I don't begrudge a single nickel spent... er, still spending; she still has two semesters of grad school in front of her. :D

I didn't intend to start this sort of discussion -- I was just pleased to see our favorite airplane mentioned so well in the WSJ. To be compared to paying for a college education is quite a compliment. But I'll pay for my kids to go to college, the great majority of it, anyway. I want them to be educated and exposed to new people and opportunities.
