Thanks for the invitation, George. Actually, I've had some pleasant interludes in the great state of Texas with fond memories of some of some lovely young ladies who were very generous with their favors on week end outings when I was on pass from the rigors of learning to overcome the ambitions of people unfriendly to the way of life we were trying to produce here in the USA.
I spent tours of duty at both Brooks AFB, and later at Randolph AFB, and spent a good many week ends in Bandera in pursuit of the tang of the wily poon. No license was required and Bandera was a pretty good hunting ground. George, those were great days to look back on. I really liked Texas.

That helps explain the "Bandera-Boom" ....

In those regretfully bygone days, the famous and most popular drink served in Bandera, TX, was the "Texas Martini". This lively libation consisted of a schooner of draft Lone Star ( or sometimes Pearl ) beer with a large, stuffed green olive.
This famous and great libation was only contested for popularity by that joint up in Oregon that used to serve a "Chicken Dinner and a Drink for 99 cents", which the unknowing stranger discovered, upon ordering same, consisted of a schooner of draft beer and a hard boiled egg.
Long live Bandera!

P.S. Can you even begin to immagine what would have happened to any one on a Saturday night in Bandera, TX, that ordered a "St. Pauli Girl" beer?
