I didn't know you flew over my place Bruce. You should have called before you left. I have a few nice places to land that beast, and we could have looked at those old junk cars, treasures, and the 4 lane dirt road. Then went to Rocky Stop and picked up beer, bait, and..... CALL NEXT TIME WILL YA????

Del, when I realize our next fuel stop was in AR I actually did do a quick scan of the map looking for Mena. Would have hated to stop somewhere to find Mena was the next airport over. But we weren't really close to you.
BTW our route for the flight was PTW-W99-K22-M54-SZY-LLQ-41LA, 991 nautical miles. We overnighted at K22. Then meet a Korean war veteran at M54 who was a combat engineer. Spent 60 days clearing the mine field around Soul. One of his men lost a leg, arm and an eye and was saved by a medevac helicopter which was his excuse to wonder over and look at ours. He didn't need an excuse as far as I was concerned. Said war was hell but he made out OK. Came home and founded the Cracker Barrel Restaurant chain with a couple of buddies of his. At 80 he knew exactly how many Cracker Barrel Restaurants there were and how many pancakes they serve a day and how many bottles of syrup they use doing it. Meet a golden retriever at SZY who would climb into a bush because his owner told him his ball was in there. You had to see this dog sitting about 5 feet in the air in the middle of the bush. Saw a '42 L4 at LLQ. Owner said it was the 33rd made with the greenhouse glass. It saw time in Italy.

That sounds like an enviable trip, Bruce! Sorry for the occasion for it, though...
My nephew is a corporate Lear pilot, and lives with that day-to-day uncertainty, too. He's told me that his connections in the industry make all the difference when things get dicey; and I'll bet your connections will stand by you. We who know you will give you a good reference!!
