I've landed on some of it in West Texas. Check out Big Bend state park.
Wikipedia says the total area of Texas is 268,581 square miles; 3% of that is approximately 5,156,755 acres.
(Yes, you're absolutely right, I DO need to get a life.)

How much do those 29" weight?
How much airspeed do they cost you?
I'm mostly looking for soft field, not so much rough field performance and wondering if 8.50x10 are sufficient.

You might query "ARDave". He uses some of the deltas on the Arkansas river for landing areas. Just remember he is a "trans-plant" form Alaska where they do things lots differently. . .

Doug,
I am working on that. We've got three current 170 association members who are active duty USAF, instructing the next generation of Air Force "fighter"//"UAV" pilots in the T-38. I'm thinking that a three-ship of C-170s will look good; especially in a SW TX sunset...

We had an F-16 flying formation on a C-180 here at Lake Elmo a few years ago when the Chief Executive was in town....
Nobody got photos, though. It all happened too fast!

Nah.... just use an Olive-Drab-Green T-38 with an Insignia-Red C-170!
