Having spent most of my life flying in warm climes, please PMI, but does a ski plane have a tailwheel, or a skid in the back, or a tiny ski or what?

I had a Citabria with wheel replacement skiis. There was a 3rd ski that was about a foot long, intended to replace the tailwheel. I never used it. In snow typically less than a foot deep it wasn't needed.

So it was still a tailwheel airplane ! No special endorsement needed-
