"I have heard" that you can text with your cell phone at 1000 to 1500 ft over cities to let certain people know you're ok while on a long flight when the wx isn't the best.

I've been flying with a Zulu set for several hundred hours now and love it. They went MIA the last week of December and had to revert to trusty Dave Clark set. The DC's made me really appreciate the Zulu's that much more. I was extremely relieved to be reunited with the Zulu set yesterday. Nothing against Dave Clark...it's worked great since I started flying and doesn't require batteries, but not nearly as comfortable. The Bluetooth connectivity has also been extremely useful on several occasions.
