I see 170 owners (or families) holding on to a pipe dream and think the plane is worth so much more. I am sure that is why the 170 on our field hasn't gone anywhere. We need to keep in mind if we don't keep our planes flying with younger people, they will sit and decay away.

I met the gentleman that purchased this plane from the auction winner at KRVL (Mifflin County) today. He is planning a restoration and has it apart in his garage. I pointed him to the association and he said he was going to join. Looks like the plane found a good home and even better, it's only 30 miles from me so I will be able to follow the rebuild as he goes. He's still working on his private, but the way he was looking over my plane and asking questions, I have no doubt he'll finish his ticket.

In looking over the offers of Cessna 170 airplanes for sale on the various internet sites and in other advertising media, there leaves no doubt in my mind that the owners of Cessna 170s value their airplanes highly. I have a hunch that there is going to be a lot of anguish among these owners before they sell their toys.

The current economy has a lot to do with how quickly airplanes sell at asking prices.
When this thing turns around...and the available selection of prime airplanes changes...
we will see another large appreciation in values. IMO
