The International Cessna^® 170 Association

Is this really happening? Surreal.

I hope the Cessna 170's and all other exposed aircraft have left the area.

Like, I hope they left yesterday, this is the 11th hour as I write.

Forecaster's at Hurricane Center Miami seem a little stunned.

I am concerned about the big picture but with a special little tug for our 170 families.

Sadly, mine is double tied down in a field to meet the storm.

Bowie Maryland isnt't in the direct path, others will get it much much worse.

David, 7A is still tied outside as it has been for 63 years. Nothing I can do about it. It's just the way it is. And for those wondering you and I are right in the path though it could be worse for both of use. We could be right on the Atlantic shore line.

They are not even always safe in the hangar. I went over this morning and did everything I could to secure my door and to move the plane as far as possible from the door. I noticed on the Philadelphia weather they have dropped the wind predictions from 37mph to 29mph so maybe it won't be quite as bad. Bill K

Starting to get the wind now. Lucky to be inside and hopefully safe, no guarantee. Expecting big wind, tides and rain. Woodbine is one of the highest places in the county. Wish everyone good luck.

When I said it could be worse we could be on the Atlantic coast line I was thinking about Woodbine and Wildwood.

Best of luck everyone. We moved the Global Express from DC to Reno, our next ops location a week early to get it out of the storm. Lucky for me, cuz it allowed me to get back to Tx Saturday night. An early morning flight to Reklaw for a couple hours before all the departures. Planes in AK have been tied down outside forever, and we would get 1 or 2 75mph blows per year. Things survived fine if properly secured.

29??? That's a nice day for flying in Nevada!!!

Not too worried about 81D blowing away. I put the pins in the ground myself 2years ago, I've added a second set for the storm as well. I'm not near any trees or poles. I'm on the edge of a cut den corn field.

I do worry about the other panes on the field whose tie down lines could be older than me tho.

To be extra safe, I washed and waxed her on Saturday so she can look her best in the insurance photos

Looks like the eye of the storm passed over us a little bit ago. Lots of rain earlier now we are getting winds with gusts near 50 MPH. So far we still have power. Bill K

In Coatesville?

Dave I am about 10 miles southeast of Coatesville thats why I don't keep the 170 there. I just have a Coatesville address.

Good luck to you Bruce, and everyone else out there on the Eastern shore.....I'm glad it's you and not me....We usually get about ten Minuets warning , when we get hit with a twister .....at least you guys had a real heads up...... Again.....GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Been seeing peak gusts of 50mph down here in Bowie MD.

N7A survives another storm. Though it could have been different if it were 100 feet to the north (left in the picture) where a cedar tree came down. Our electric flashed a few times and while sleeping it may have gone out but we were not inconvenienced by at outage. But lots of the area around us has lost power. We did lose a pine tree I'd considered removing anyway. Now I don't have to dig out the stump.
