Re: Big Tyre/Little Tyre & the "Bush Look" Real World Thoug
Are you certain about the math on your fuel burn?
Less pitch, more rpm, cannot equal more speed AND less fuel...unless something
else its going on......?

Re: Big Tyre/Little Tyre & the "Bush Look" Real World Thoug
Living here on the N.W. edge of the Great Basin, and at the base of the Eastern Sierras I keep 8" tires on our stock 170. I often land off-airport, but not in "the bush". I choose dirt strips, dry lakebeds, etc. I sure wonder how she'd do with some bigger AKBushwheels; but have decided I need to build a dedicated bushplane for that kind of fun. (65C is just too pretty and stock to turn her into a bush plane.) I also wonder how much more utility the 8" tires offer, over the stock 6"?
However, one of our 170 members does some really challenging flying, and posted great photos of it on the "High Sierra Fly-In" thread in the Pilot Lounge.
