U.S. Navy OE-1 Birddog

Hello;

I had a friend, (since deceased), that told me he flew OE-1, or 305A Birddogs in Korea with U.S. Navy livery....(not Marine) ....
I was aboard a Carrier in Korea, but we did not carry any Cessna 170's :) ........
I am an RC modeler and obtained a crashed Birddog (Army). I have rebuilt the plane, and want to finish it in Navy colors ...
I can not find any pictures or information on the net about this. I did find a crash site that states that Navy OE-1's went down in 1951
and 52 ......so I'm assuming what my friend stated, is fact.

Would any of you be kind enough to give me any information you may have ,and point me in the right direction for info and pictures.
Thanks
Holly

I am not very knowlegable on these aircraft but try contacting Air Repair in cleveland Mississippi. They rebuild the birddog and paint them in original colors if that is what the owner wants. If anyone would know they would. (Airrepairinc.com)

There is a greatly detailed book about the L-19 called "The Loveable One-Niner: A Complete History of the Cessna L-19 Birddog." The author really did his home work and has a passion for L-19s, as I recall, he owns several of them. And the bonus is, a few pages in there is a picture of a Cessna assembly line with L-19s and 170s mixed together on the line.

I thought of Bobby. His book is about the L-19 from 1962 to 1972 in Vietnam so not the Korean era.
