Before and after

Finally got the airplane painted. I am going to pick it up from the paint shop in the morning. These photos are the results of 7 years of work. When I bought the airplane in 06 I ended up having to have the engine majored and that was my paint fund. Slowly but surely I have gotten it where I am happy with it. I tell people its like peeling an onion, once you start there is no stopping.

Bill:
It looks great. I am glad you posted the photo as I would have thought there was a NEW 170 at Newnan.
Can wait to see it.

I thought when repainting an aircraft the part 43 regs state that you must conform to the visibility requirements much like your old aircraft paint job

Yes or No?

Not sure about part 43 but part 45.29 1 iv gives the size requirements and that refers antiques to part 45.22 b and that says
"b) A small U.S.-registered aircraft built at least 30 years ago or a U.S.-registered aircraft for which an experimental certificate has been issued under § 21.191(d) or 21.191(g) for operation as an exhibition aircraft or as an amateur-built aircraft and which has the same external configuration as an aircraft built at least 30 years ago may be operated without displaying marks in accordance with §§ 45.21 and 45.23 through 45.33 if:"

If you are talking about 10" numbers rather than the 2" numbers, no. Our aircraft are grandfathered allowing just the 2" numbers. However there are some restrictions where they can be operated with 2" numbers. I believe 10" numbers have to be displayed to enter Canada and a ADIZ.

BTW, the RED scheme looks great!
Thanks, trust me I thought long and hard on the color and decided that 88A needed every bit of help it could get in the speed department.

I never noticed that in that photo. It's there but it looks like it is in the flaps 10 position and it blends into the rudder peddles.
