This message is a follow-up to a question I previoulsy asked. After experiencing rather large RPM drop (left mag.) when doing the mag. check I jumped the the "worse case scenario" that the left magneto was going bad. I pull the plugs, clean and gap them every annual and they always looked good. After reading some replies to my query. I changed my train of thought to "why don't I replace the plugs" After looking through my engine logs I could find no reference for the plugs ever having been replaced. The fact that they looked good was good enough for me. Wrong!
Last Friday I put 12 new REM40E's in the O-300D and it was as if I did a top overhaul.
Thanks to you all for your helpful suggestions. :)

You're in Carson City, NV? I'm just over the hill in Grass Valley (Near Nevada City). My boys and I have flown just over the hill to Minden to watch the glider ops. Which field are you based at?
