Extended baggage 170A

G'day everyone,

Having recently done some airplane camping with my six year old son, I have come to the conclusion that more baggage space would be nice to free up the back seat so I can bring my daughter along as well.

I have searched the forum and the web regarding extended baggage mods. I am aware of the cable situation on the 'a' model. Has anyone installed an extended baggage on an a model and 'boxed in' the cables to protect them from fouling, leaving only access on each side of the cables? If so, does this work in a practical sense? What I mean is, is the access too restricted to be practical or does it work okay since the area would only be used for light bulky items such as sleeping bags and pillows etc. Another possibility would be to install extra pulleys on the next bulkhead towards the rear and install longer cables, thereby re-routing the cables behind the extended baggage. This would give a better result although would require a lot more work ($$$) and I think would be more difficult to get approved.

I would love to hear from anyone with any ideas or experience with extended baggage on an 'A'.

Thanks,
Noel

Not sure you would gain much space on the A model. I skinny dude like myself barely fit around through to install the tail pull. You might be able to use the opening for fishing pole tubes but that is about all I could see it being useful for. Just my opinion.

1. Sell the "A".
2. Buy a "B". ( You'll like it a lot more anyway !)
