Does anyone know for sure how much liability insurance Canada requires to get across the border. Being a low tailwheel time owner insurance is high and I read $100,000 property only on some forums but Insurance company says $500,000 property and people. Thought someone might have dealt with it lately. Thanks

The insurance company is wrong for private flights (ie. non commercial, for aircraft at or under 2,300 lbs grow weight. It's only $100,000 in liability. The relevant part of the Canadian regs reads as follows:

(8) No aircraft owner not referred to in paragraph (2)(a), (b) or (c) shall operate an aircraft unless, in respect of every incident related to the operation of the aircraft, the owner has subscribed for liability insurance covering risks of public liability in an amount that is not less than

(a) $100,000, where the maximum permissible take-off weight of the aircraft is 1 043 kg (2,300 pounds) or less;

BTW, I probably should have added that while the legal requirement is only for $100,000, IMHO, that's probably not enough unless you are broke and judgement proof or plan to be.
