WACO trip from Battle Creek MI (AZO) to Chatham MA

Evening everyone, looking for some ideas on places to stop during a trip flying a WACO from Battle Creek MI (AZO) to Chatham MA (CQX). Planning to leave May 13, plus or minus. I'd be interested in grass strips and seeing some unusual or fun stuff along the way. I was able to see the Piper museum about a year ago. I didn't purchase the plane, just the pilot and tour guy on weekends :)

Thanks and Happy Easter to all...

Kyle,
There is a real nice aviation museum at your starting airport and they have reasonably priced rides in AT6, BT13, and a couple of other planes.
On the way home if you get a chance stop at Elmira/Corning (ELM) or Painted Post (7N1) or maybe Penn Yan (PEO) and rent a car to go to
Hammondsport to see the Glenn Curtis Museum (a hidden gem) and also Harris Hill glider port and National Glider museum.
Just for the fun of it you might stop at Claremont Ohio and go to Sporty's Pilot Shop just to say you have been there.
You still based out of Provincetown or did you move to Chatham these days?

Ah...? Is she new to you?
A co-worker showed me a pic of his RC Waco a day before your post and I mentioned to him that our Benton Harbour convention had a tour of the plant. The planes are beautiful to say the least. Of course, eventually reality set in when we looked at factory pricing but if you got it good for you!
His RC pilot sports a long scarf, guess you might need that as well?

Here's another route to consider if you have a transponder. It takes you through Canada entoute to Geneseo NY as previously recommended and which is the longest grass warbird field I have ever seen and which also has a neat little museum onsite.

Enroute, you stop at Hamilton ONT (CYHM) to clear customs and see the Canadian Warbird Heritage Museum. This is worth the trip in itself. Coming back into, the US you clear US Customs at KIAG, Niagara Falls International, then head on to Geneseo. The only reason I mention the transponder is that crossing the border without a transponder requires a waiver that is a PITA to get. BTDT.

The route is reasonably direct and avoids over water legs, takes you to one huge and one interesting small warbird museum, and you can overfly Niagara Falls (after clearing customs and getting the briefing at KIAG.)

What you do after departing Geneseo for gas and interesting stops is beyond me.

For the Curtiss museum and Corning Glass, Painted Post [7N1] is the closest. It is only 25 minutes to Curtiss and a great place to visit. The are now restoring a P40 to show in the museum.

Hi Kyle
Stop at Plymouth on the way home. WE have a restaurant. One on the field and one across the street at the golf course.
How is the restaurant coming at Chattham?
