What value are old records such as the Gill Teledyne Battery Products card dated 1/28/74, instrument work on instruments that have been replaced, etc. from previous owners? These are just examples of many, many records, some of which seem of value for historical data, but some, like the above examples and others seem like it would be ok to throw away.

If the equipment is no longer installed in the airplane then it is of little or no value. Is there really so much of it that it's a storage problem? I enjoyed reading the old documentation on my airplane. It lends itself to historical accuracy.

MAN I GOT OLD STUFF! I HAVE AN OWNERS MANUAL FOR A MOONEY MUSTANG! HOW MANY MUSTANGS DID THEY BUILD?

ME AND A BUDDY BOUGHT A COUPLE OF BOXES OF JUNK AT A HANGAR SALE AT THE OLD FAIFAX AIRPORT FBO IN 1966. THERE WERE PILES OF OLD PAPERS AND JUNK ON BENCHES AROUND THE WALLS AND I PAWED THROUGH SOME OF IT TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY THINGS WE COULD USE ON OUR OLD TEE CRAFT AND THE CULVER WE WERE WORKING ON. THAT MUSTANG OWNERS MANUAL WAS IN ONE OF THE BOXES WE BOUGHT BUT THERE WERE SOME OTHER DOCUMENTS, SOME 337S AND YELLO TAGS FROM SOME OF THE STUFF THEY HAD LEFT AROUND WHEN THEY SCRAPPED OLD WRECKS. WISH I HAD PICKED SOME OF IT UP.

THE GUY HAD HAD AN OLD JUNKER, A NORTHRUP OMEGA. IT'S LANDING GEAR WHEELS, OLEOS AND STRUTS WERE AS BIG AS A DC3'S. AND THERE WERE HAND FORMED GEAR/WHEEL SPEED FAIRINGS. NEAT OLE STUFF BUT I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED TO THAT TOTHE PLANE OR THE SPARES AND DOCUMENTATION. IT'LL PROBABLY BE PILED UP IN THE BACK OF SOMEONE ELSES HANGAR TILL IT IS NO LONGER OF ANY VALUE TO ANYONE THEN GO ON TO THE JUNK PILE.
