While this isn't a question about airplanes, it is about protecting them. As I (slowly) approach the conclusion of a hangar update project started last May, I have a problem and there always seems to be some good suggestions on this forum, so here goes. My 4 hangar doors open/close in a bifold manner. Frames of the doors are 1 1/2 inch square tubing which spans 42 feet. The bottom of the doors are approx. 2 inches above the concrete floor. What would be a good, available material to use to seal the bottom space to keep out rodents, rain, wind, etc. & where would one locate such material. All suggestions appreciated.

Find a local quarry that has conveyor belting and cut sections to fit your application. It is durable and will last forever.

There are several paper mills in my area,which use what we call "mill felt" in the paper-drying process. If you know any mill hands,it can often be had for the asking. Seems to come in a continuous roll maybe 20 feet wide. t's pretty stiff,might work well for your application. Lots of folks at my airport use it for sealing between along the bottom of rolling hangar doors.

Wilson Doors sells hangar door seals. I have a set on my hangar door. The seal for mine is a 30 ft. long rubber tube held to the bottom door frame with screws. It plugs the 2 inch gap nicely and even keeps out most of the rain. Don't have their address but the are in Trade-A-Plane and you can also look them up on the internet.

Have you poured the floor yet? Proably so, but if you haven't you might want to consider holding your floor elevation up one inch higher than your door theshold. It keeps the water out , although it makes for a bump. No worse than the angle iron tracks that some hanger doors have. TP
