Can anyone tell me what a fair value would be for a set of Federal 2500 straight skis with UHMW bottoms, 170 gear leg brackets and bungees in good condition? TIA.

As a point of reference, I have recently noticed two separate ads for Federal 2500's. Each set was listed for $2500. May or may not have 170 rigging. The cable attach fittings are available from FA Dodge in Anchorage. They also sell springs that are used in place of the original bungee cords. It is kind of a small market for aircraft skis in general, so you may not easily find exactly what you are looking for with the specific rigging you want. Making up the cables for replacement rigging is not a big job though.

I second the F. Atlee Dodge stainless steel ski fittings and tension springs instead of bungees. I have run that setup since 1984 on my C-180. The ski fittings are bullet-proof, don't rust, look good without paint as-is, or they can be polished. The spring rate of the springs do not change like the bungees (bungees get stiffer with lower temps). Atlee used to sell two different spring rate springs for different size skis. Check with Steve Kracke if he hasn't retired. Use AC 43-13 for rigging instructions. Good luck and have fun.

The price listed by beaverbill is about what I paid for mine about 8 years ago.

However, I had to have them shipped. Shipping seemed quite high to me (~$450 via UPS, including insurance). They are not all that light, and are pretty bulky.
