Hi,
I recently purchased N2444D. 1952 C170B. My first 170 although I had owned a 1958 C172 with the Bolen TW conversion for several years. I have been flying since 1968. I’m a CFI -A and CFII. Single engine. I don’t actively instruct anymore but do stay current.

My 170B was previously owned by a man from Napier, IL. He passed away last year and his estate sold the plane. It has 2700 TT and 250 SMOH. However it sat in his heated hangar for 13 years. In addition to going through the airplane with an extensive pre buy and annual including sending the mags out for OH and AD compliance and countless other things I had the avionics upgraded with Garmin 345 audio panel, 255 Nav Comm 225 Comm only and GNX 375 GPS/Transponder for ADS B in and out.

The airplane is polished with red trim.

I have previously owned several airplanes from a J3 to a 250 Comanche.

I’d like to attend the convention at Penn Yan. Like everything else it depends on this virus. Our county has about 1.5 million people and we have more cases than most states.

So, fingers crossed. We have been locked down for so long just thinking about that flight makes me smile.

Rich,

Hey nice to virtually meet a Brookhaven guy. I'm at Skylark in Ct with a 52 'B model as well. Sounds like you've got one sweet plane that you have brought up to date very nicely. I'm sure we will hear each other some evening or Saturday on 122.8. Come on up to Skylark any time we are a friendly bunch and now that the spring rains are subsiding we have some nice grass ... to land on that is!

Cheers and welcome to the club!

Thanks!
I’ve been to skylark a few times over the years. Last several years ago with the Legend Cub I had then. Another coincidence: When I was in college in Boston in 1968 or so, my parents moved from LI to Enfield. Eventually they moved to Florida to get away from the ice and snow.

Rich.

Rich, welcome to the 170 assn. You have a nice looking plane. Hope to have a chance to meet you in October in Penn Yan. Incidentally, I have a good friend who lives part of the year here in Tennessee and part on Long Island. I gave him your name and N #. He says he goes to the restaurant there at your airport from time to time and will try to look you up. He is based at KFOK and flies a nice black & grey '57 172. Name is Ernie. He's a really nice guy. Hope you two and meet one another.

Yep... I’m aware of the NYC area situation as my daughter is a genuine “New York Lawyer” living on the west end of your island (Brooklyn). LOL

Hi Rich,

Love your choice of avionics! Wish the rest of our plane looked as good as yours!

Thanks Bob

Putting all the avionics on the left in my airplane preserved the original 1952 panel but I have to say using the touch screen with my left hand is not the best. I guess more practice will help and I can use the knobs for most of the common stuff. I also learned the 375 using the simulator on the iPad.

I saw your friend’s 172 at HWV today as I was driving out to get lunch with another guy. When we got back he was gone.i had flown earlier. I’m sure I’ll run into him at the airport diner. If you talk to Ernie, tell him I’m in hangar 2 at Northeast Aviation. I’m right by the flag pole in the older section with box hangars. Northeast has the Shell fuel farm.
