First TW night landing

So I left Fergus ON 20 minutes before sunset arriving at home base of Midland ON 30 minutes after sunset.

I love it!

I do a fair bit of night flying in my 170. It’s one of my favorite times to fly.

Same here! I replaced the post light with a red LED and it gets the job done very well, even better than the LED instrument post lights I have controlled by rheostat, which are actually TOO bright, and on the lower rheostat settings, start to flicker.

I agree…incandescent instrument lights work best when used with a rheostat and on low-power. (and that arrangement is also a low electrical-demand so there’s little or no reason to use L.E.D.s in that service….however I do use LED “GE87” replacements for the overhead instrument lamps and they do fine with the rheostat.)
