Re-weighed the plane today

Airplane was rebuilt in 2018 (I bought it earlier this year) and enough changes made without any updates in w&b I figured it would just be fun to do a new w&b.

1420# empty weight, with oil. CG 41.64"
empty weight with the 29's on her is 1444#

O-360 conversion, dry weight of that motor is 10# less than the Continental
Mt prop
175 wings so bigger fuel tanks, that's gotta add a couple pounds
180 gear legs, that adds about 6# total
ABI baby bushwheel tailwheel, that's about 4 extra lbs
Sportsmans cuff has to add some weight
Keller tailwheel shimmy dampner is 1.5#
baggage door has to add a pound or two

There's really no weight to strip from the plane now. It'll be easier for me to skip a couple meals.

That’s always been a great way increase useful load!

Cheaper than mods too!

Just out of curiosity, what was the difference between your previous w&b and the new one?

My STC/changes list isn’t as extensive as yours but I still wonder what the actual weight of my plane is. I’ve been considering re-weighing when the list is complete.

Well this is my first weigh in, I bought it in May. The plane was totally rebuilt in 2018 and weighed then, had a hartzell on it best of my knowledge. Some changes since then but no updated w&b info for the MT prop or 29’s.

That old weight was 1430#. Which tracks for swapping the props.
