Frank, saw that you had replied to the Computer Problems post, and couldn't wait to see what advice you had given! Almost broke my finger getting here, then saw your reply.

I certainly don't have any idea unless a login is getting timed out because of a setting, but that is only a wild guess at best. Don't have any experience with AOL, but have heard that it is more contankerous than some other software. Having a high speed cable modem connection to the internet really helps overcome glitches like those. If a connection is over a normal phone line, it's possible that it is call waiting or other interruptions that interfere with the connection. Good Luck!

Ron,

Since there's at least one other person with AOL having problems, my troubleshooting intuition would tell me to look there first. Like Frank, I don't have any experience with AOL, so I can't make any guesses as to what the specific problem might be.

Since you can post using Explorer, just do it that way until someone finds out if/why AOL is the problem.

Miles

PS: See you in Cabool, too. If weather and timing allow, I'll be arriving in a 2-ship with the Benedicts.

I called Jim Watters a few days ago, and he did seem a bit concerned with the crowd, as all of the motels around Dwight are already booked up because of a car race up in Joliet. 8O I'm coming prepared to pitch a tent under the wing if necessary.

About the fuel, you're probably doing better than me now that you have that award-winning slick paint job! :D

Ron let me try to understand you situation.

You have a DSL connection to the internet. Who is your DSL provider?

Not sure if AOL provides DSL connections and that is what you have and that is why your are using AOL.

If you DSL provider is someone else like your phone company there is very little reason for you to use AOL at all. Did yo know that.

I believe your DSL line is always connected. Just use any browser such as Explorer to surf the net. Your DSL provider probably gives yo Email as well and that will require another program which are readily available like Outlook. Or yo can usually view your email online with your web browser.

Just Get Rid Of AOL.

Bruce, I don't think "Outlook" is a browser (is it?). It's an email manager.
But Internet Explorer, which is commonly package along with most Windows programs is a great browser.

No George Outlook is not a browser but an emaill manager which is what I think I wrote.

More than likely if you have Explorer you also have Outlook.

I brought all this up because I'm continually amazed how many people think they still need AOL to surf the net and get email. If you use AOL and you like it and it works for you that's great. If you travel a lot and use a portable computer and a dialup to connect then there is a place for it.

There are other browzers other than Explorer such as Mazola and Netscape Navigator. Lots of people don't like Explorer as it seems to be the most popular and so spammers and virus creators write code specifically for it.

Bruce, I think you meant Mozilla (Mazola is something you spread on your toast). But you are right. Mozilla's Firefox program is faster and far more secure then Internet Explorer.

It also is free from there non-profit org at:
