Control cables, which is which?

When my aircraft was disassembled during restoration last year, the cables were not marked by the mech who has since left. Now the new mechanic is looking at the parts catalogue and the service manual(prior 62') and is unsure which is which.

Some of the cables are shorter by about 1" compared to the others. He was able to install some with no difficulty but others will not connect properly and will be short a few inches even if it was fully adjusted.

He's thinking of taking off all cables and measuring so that we can identify the part no by length. Is there any way to get the exact measurement per part no.? Thanks!

One place you might start is http://www.mcfarlane-aviation.com/
They make all the cables for our airplanes and if you talk very nicely to them, they may be able to give some assistance (even tho by so doing they'll be hurting themselves by not being able to sell you new cables.)
In any case, this IS an excellent time to install new cables.
Good luck.

Tell us specifically which cable run are we talking about? I'm guessing we are talking rudder cables. Otherwise the cable may not be routed correctly. George's suggestion is an excellent one as MCFarlane are great people to deal with.
