Good Evening Everyone,

First of all I have to tell you that if the assistance I received in finding a mechanic to perform a pre-purchase inspection ...... which rolled right into an annual (thanks George / Miles) is any indication of the fellowship of this group I'm delighted / honored to be a part of it.

I have just acquired a 1952 170B sitting down in Newberry SC awaiting a few parts prior to being picked up for the ride home to Cape Cod MA. It was cared for by another 170 Assoc. member and I'm delighted to have it.

The grand total on the squawk list was a Tach reading about 400 rpm to high, door seals needing replacement, spark plugs also needed replacing and last but not least a 500 hr impulse coupling check, although a brand new revision to that AD may have superseded the inspection requirement. Don't know why you wouldn’t want to have a look after 500 hours anyway, but that was the grand total for his list.

Considering our climate up here, we are installing the rieff cylinder band / pan heaters and a set of BAS shoulder harnesses just for safety sake.

If I can figure out how to post some photos, I will.

Anyway ..... Best to all of you and it's nice to be aboard.

Congratulations Kyle!

I'm glad the recommendation for an inspector worked out so well. Sounds like you've got quite a nice bird there. That's an extremely short squawk list and easy items at that. Good luck on getting her home (be careful around the DC area!).

Happy flying, Miles

Wow- It's great to have another 170 in New England. Welcome and good luck. Are you going to keep the plane in Provincetown? My wife and I fly there several times a year. If you get to Beverly or Plum Island, look us up.

Welcome aboard Kyle. The 170 Assn is a great group of airplane loving folks and I'm sure you will appreciate this more as time goes on. Try to attend some of the flyins in your area and get to know those folks. Come join us next July at the annual convention.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the warm welcome. Yes the plane will be in Provincetown. We live next door in Truro and it's very close. With any luck I can sneek it in a hanger for the winter months ..... maybe in Chatham or Hyannis.

Been on the Cape for some time so if anyone is in need in this area, information or otherwise, please let me know ..... Susan and I would be happy to help.

Look forward to participating in the association, and gaining knowledge about the 170 as we go.
