Wheel skis

Does anyone know of any fixed wheel penetration skis out there for the 170? Anybody have any thought's on using such a set up?

I thought I might want a simlar ski for mine. TrickAir has that style but I don't know how hard it is to get approval.

Not exactly what you're asking for, but maybe close: AeroSki Mfg. Co. in Brooten, MN makes a mechanical (non-hydraulic) wheel penetration ski that can be lowered once in the air, then you have to raise them manually once you're on the ground. Or so I'm told -- I haven't seen them myself, and I couldn't find a photo on the web. Their phone number is (320) 346-2285.

Landis is working on one. They are working on approval for putting them on cubs. Call them and see what they say about a 170 installation.

Landes has made fixed wheel penetration skis for cubs (2500) and 180/185's (3600) for many years. I think Tim may be referring to a smaller version of their new 4000 hydraulic ski.

Hello John,
We are very close to getting our approval but we are still not there. I have been working directly with the ACO in Chicago and we are making good progress. I’m told that all our process specs. and material qualifying plans will be approved for conformance this Friday. Then it’s a matter of having the tests and processes witnessed by the FAA or a D.A.R. I’m hoping a couple of weeks and we’re done. We will up date the web site with any approvals to let everyone know.

Plan on spending about 7500 when they get approval, I saw them ( trickair) at oskosh, nice setup though.
