There was once a site http://www.faa.gov/asos/map/map.htm
that had the map of the US and after a click on a state you could retrieve AWOS freqs and phone numbers.
I have been searching around and only single state maps are found.
Any help out there?

Curtis,

Am I missing something here? Your link works fine and I get a map of all the states that appears to work as you describe. Is this link not working for you or is there another problem?

It does apear to be outdated. We've had ASOS here for 3 years, but aren't listed. Neither are some of the nearby airports that were upgraded at the same time.

It appears that the FAA site itself is having some issues. I can't even log on to their home page http://www.faa.gov . I get the following error:

Network Error (tcp_error)

A communication error occurred: "No route to host"
The Web Server may be down, too busy, or experiencing other problems preventing it from responding to requests. You may wish to try again at a later time.

For assistance, contact your network support team.

Working for me now...use it semi-regularly to get phone numbers, OTOH you can get AWOS/ASOS data directly from http://aviationweather.gov/

Gittingthe AWOS information or the ATIS information on the internet is cool but if you have the 496 it shows you the the AWOS or the ATIS for every airport in the country at any given moment.

I developed a server program that would let you send a text message from your cell phone to an email address, and in about 30 seconds it would send you back the METAR from whatever ICAO identifier you included in your message. You just need a phone capable of sending text to an email address. In my phone, you can save a contact with phone numbers, or email address.

It worked well, but I need to set it back up again on my server. My plan was to offer it as a free METAR service with a $20 annual fee for premium features like TAFs, airport information, and VFR/IFR change alerts. I will let you guys know when I reseurrect it.
