Anyone have any advise, knowledge or comments on putting
Goodyear 26 x 10.5 x 6 on a 170B?? STC req'd?? Can't find any info...

PM me with your e-mail address and I'll send you a copy of the 4-page 337 that was used for my installation in '99. Page 1 and 2 the standard 337, page 3 an FAA worksheet certifying things were done right and the plane was test flown, page 4 is a new weight and balance.

Corey,
Your plane looks great on floats. Do you have a picture on the 26â€tires and /or skis?
If I want to put 26†tires my 170B, how does Corey’s 337 help me? Do I use it, modify it, or do I still have to go get my own?

You still have to get your own approval. Corey's 337 is just for his airplane. His paperwork can be used to give you an idea of what might be approved. It also shows your local FSDO that at least some person in another FSDO approved that modification. It does not mean that your FSDO has to approve the mod.
Corey is also from Alaska and at least for a time things like this could still be approved at the local FSDO level but not so here in the lower 48. I don't know what the status is on that.

I read the thread above and found a lot of opinions. But, are 8.50s approved for the 170? Is the 8.50 easier to put on the 170? And would it matter whether they are 8.50x6 or 8.50x10?

No 8.50s are not approved for the 170 by the Type Certificate. The largest tire that is approved by the Type Certificate is an 8.00x6.
Are the 8.50s easier to get approved is a relative question. I'll bet the local FSDO would require no more and no less engineering data whether they are 8.50s or monster truck tires.
I'll bet you can find more supporting documentation and engineering data for the 8.50s than monster truck tires though.
And I'm not sure but I think there may be an STC you can buy$ to install 8.50 tires on a 170.

When it was regular size text it widened the page so much you had to scroll right and left to read the posts. I didn't want to bring up that discussion again!
