Hey folks
I have not posted for some time so I thought I would bring you all up to date.
Had the a/c re-weighed,did a pitot static test and a prop inspection jumped through a couple of more hoops and got my Cof A on july 21 one month to the day after I landed from the ferry flt.
At 6:30 am the next morn I was airborne over the city....rapture.....been a long time since I had done a flt just because.
Next took her down to the south end of the province,landed at my uncles strip(he is 76 and still flies an ag model super cub)and took him for a ride in payment for my first ride ever 37 years ago(in the afore mentioned cub)
Have put about 40 hours on her so far,wife loves it,having fun.
Now a small order of business..
Where is the best place to purchase a parts manual,inspection info etc.
Also any other publications that the members may know of that will help me keep this a/c up.
Thanks in advance and I promise not to be so remiss in my posting.
I would also like to thank all who took the time to reply to my posts with advice.ideas etc during the import process.

You can download the 52-56 parts catalog at http://www.micro-tools.com/pdf/cessna/170b_pm.pdf for free but the pdf search feature does not work, at least not for me.
There is no 170 service manual, but the Cessna 100 series service manual 1962 and prior is an excellent source of info. It is not 170 specific, but covers maintenance and inspection details for the early 172 - essentially the same plane with a nose wheel. You will probably want an O-300 overhaul manual (even if you are not overhauling your engine) and parts catalog. I think all of the above are available at http://www.mccurtaintg.com on CD. Paper versions are available at Aircraft Spruce or Univair.

Glad to hear that my ex-baby is getting plenty of flying time. Let me know if you plan on making the 170 Convention in Galveston next year. Stop overnight in Graham, and I'll take you out to Wildcatter for some steaks and brews. Of course, it might cost you a ride in CF-DLR.
