Cessna oil pressure gauge

My gauge seems to be a little "sticky", since it never returns to the peg when there is no oil pressure. Pressure is normal on the gauge after start-up & at opperating temp. If I need to replace this Cessna gauge, can anyone tell me where I can find a new one? I've looked at a few of the obvious places like Aircraft Spruce, etc.

Original Cessna oil pressure gauges are not available new and not repairable. The Rochester 10-00015 or Scott RN- 2550 are both available from Aircraft Spruce and work fine.

hi john
you say that the gauges are not repairable.
i feel that almost anything is repairable.
i own two wwii jeeps that had basket case gauges
and had them restored.
do you really mean that the FAA won't
certify a restored cessna gauage?
the important thing to me in the name of originality is to have
a gauge that keeps the original look in the dash.
thanks

I called around to several of the well known gauge repair shops including the ones that specialize in antique and classic aircraft and all said no go on repairing the original Cessna oil gauges. It had something to do with the way the cases were manufactured and opening them would destroy the case if I remember correctly. If you do a search on this site there is some good info on how to replace the face on a new gauge with the face from your original.

Just my luck...... I save EVERYTHING that comes off my plane, but for some reason canned my oil gauges after everyone told me they were unrepairable
Thanks George, that is a great resource.

George and all.
Airparts of Lock Haven located on Lock Haven Airport, Lock Haven, Pa does indeed offer gauge rebuilding but they don't actually rebuild the gauges themselves.
Keystone Instruments located two doors down does all their work. Keystone Instruments is a second generation family run business. The father and founder of the business still hangs around in case there is a really hard problem otherwise his sons and daughter run the business.
I don't believe there is a gauge they won't repair or at least attempt a repair. They will also tell you when it might be a better idea to change the face from an old gauge to a newer working model.
Here is Keystone Instruments web page:

There is simply no reason to deal with Air Parts for gauges when you can deal direct with the people who really do the work.
BTW if you are ever in Lock Haven, say for a Sentimental Journey Fly-in you can visit Keystone Instruments and see the gages being repaired as business is usually discussed right in the middle of their work shop. You will most likely be talking with the same guy who did or will be doing your repair.

Keystone was one of the shops I talked to and they couldn't do the oil gauges two years ago. It would be worth a call to see if anything has changed. I would call but don't have my old gauges so I can't describe to them what I have.

Keystone is definitely the place to go. I went to them for all my work and they were great. They also rebuilt my buddy's big ol' original tach from his '39 T-craft and it was beautiful.

Got my first real engine experience tearing down and rebuilding two vw engines from my brother's Bugs. When I first saw a Lyc/Cont. opposed aircraft engine, it amazed me how similar they were.
