Saw an interesting article on tv. RFD channel has segments of ALASKA on from time-to-time and the one on was from 2001. It had a feature on an artist/contractor by the name of Sandy Jamieson from Ester (?), AK. He uses his C-170 to fly to vrs areas to construct log homes. His plane is bare metal w/ a Lycoming engine (could see bumps on cowling). N4457B and was on floats. He isn't listed as a C-170 member. Didn't have time to look up to see if he is still the registered owner, but some of you Alaskan's might see if he would like to become a member.

Here's his web site, he does some pretty neat prints. Don't know him personally just recognize the name. I think his plane or that plane is parked at the north end of Chena Marina (AK28) were I live and park. http://www.sandyjamieson.com/

Try these links, may not say how many are flying but how many are registered. Found this site searching for information on 170's.

Sandy is pretty well known around these parts as a pilot but mostly as an artist, I happen to have two of his prints hanging on my wall. I met him once very briefly and we talked about 170's.
