Hello from Northern Ontario,
I had a sportsman stol kit installed on my 170-B float plane this spring(I have a 165 HP Franklin Engine and Edo 2000 floats) it sure made a differnce in performance.
I am thinking of installing wing extensions on my plane next spring, has anyone installed wing extensions on their 170.I would appreciate any information on the installation and any performance differerences.
Thanks,
Ken

Ken, What kind of wing extentions are you talking about? Don't know that I have ever seen extentions on a 170. What kind of performance pluses are you getting out of your Sportsman? Thinking of doing the Sportsman but don't know if it is worth the effort. Thanks, Jon

Are you talking about these
http://www.wingxstol.com/prod-en.html I don't see anything about them being approved for the 170s. It would be interesting if they did.

George,
Were the extentions on the 172 also STCed for the 170? I also have a C170B with a Lyc 0360?/ Hartzell 80" C/S, (no hub AD)! Looking at the Sportsman. Can you give us some real numbers with your mods and the Sportsman? The numbers look good on their ads, but I would really like some real world numbers. Most of my flying is close to sea level, but high density altitude. What does your plane weigh? Mine is HEAVY. That being said, I can haul about anything I can get in it.

The wing extensions are approved for the 170 in Canada only and currently not approved in the states. From what I understand approval in the states is coming shortly. Call ART and talk to Paul, he is a great guy and very knowledgable in his product.
Note: The 170B was the first and primary airplane used for approval of the Sportsman. The numbers we advertise are very in-line to the performance you get out of the airplane after modification. I can confidently say this because I have a 170B with the Sportsman on it myself. If you have any questions feel free to call us at (800)597-1911. We are more than happy to openly discuss the modification with anyone and we also have an info. sheet just for the 170B that we can share as well.

Will,
Thank you for responding. I will call you and would appreciate the info. sheet. Christmas is coming up! I guess like Dave said, it would be cutting it close to get the plane in our hanger with extentions.
