I landed at Nut Tree for a pit stop today and was approached by someone who had owned a '56 170. After talking 170's for awhile he went back to his hanger and gave me an original owners manual in excellent condition with 3476D ser.# 27019 written inside the cover. If the owner is out there it is yours for the asking if you p.m. me your address.

The database at landings.com says it's owned by James Howard of Seattle, Washington. I called him and he said he would post a reply here.

Darned, I was hoping to be next in line if the owner didn't step up. I used to own 3477D. :P

John, speaking of Nut Tree, I heard that someone is going to be starting up the old restaurant up there. Any signs of construction up there? A lot of the the old models are hanging in SFO terminal.

I haven't heard anything about the restaurant, but for some reason Nut Tree has been Notam'd as closed to transient parking. We stopped there to wait for the fog to burn off to the south. Best thing about Nut Tree (other than great people and some really nice planes) is that 100LL was cheap($3.05???) as opposed to the $4.29 we paid up at Clear Lake.

Did a double take on that N# and then read the serial #. Mine is 27010. Interesting to see that 3476D is painted up as a 55 model. I know mine rolled out of the factory in 55 but clearly has had the 56 paint scheme on it since birth. In my stuff I have owners manuals from 55 models and 56 models. Guess they hadnt printed up the 56 manual when mine rolled out the door.
